What is the difference between a Swiss Made watch and a 'normal' watch?

Are you looking for a new watch? Then you often come across the following phrase or term: 'This watch has a Swiss movement' or 'Swiss Made'. What does this term actually mean? And is there a difference between a Swiss Made watch and a 'normal' watch?

Most people know that watches with a Swiss movement are very good. But why is that actually? Why is a Swiss Made watch often slightly better than a copy from China, America, or Japan?

What is the Swiss Made label?

A Swiss timepiece stands for high quality. The timepiece is usually handmade and therefore has a very good reputation. A swiss replica watches online is a real quality label that meets many criteria. These quality standards were incorporated into Swiss law in 1971: the Ordinance. Only watches that meet all legal quality standards are allowed to bear the 'Swiss Made' label.

Why is there a Swiss quality label?

Switzerland has been the forerunner when it comes to quality watches for centuries. For this reason, the Swiss government decided in 1971 to protect its quality products with the Swiss Made label against the competition. The introduction of this quality label was a great success. Even though many European and Asian brands are increasingly producing high-quality timepieces and watches, Swiss watches remain the quality standard. Swiss Made watches have a high quality, are partly made by hand, perfectly finished, and display the time very accurately.

In 2017, the Swiss Ordinance law was revised, so that the link between Switzerland and Swiss Made watches becomes even stronger. With the revision, abuse of the quality label is prevented and the 'Swiss brand' is strengthened. A Swiss-made watch is therefore a real quality watch that meets strict criteria.

When is a watch Swiss Made?

A Swiss Made watch must be made in Switzerland, but this is not the only requirement. The Swiss Ordinance law stipulates that a watch may bear the Swiss Made label if:

The watch has a Swiss movement.

The Swiss movement is attached to the watch case.

The movement has been checked according to the mandatory technical Swiss checks.

The final check of the watch in Switzerland has been carried out.

The watch is assembled in Switzerland.

At least 60% of the total value of the watch is made in Switzerland.

What is the main difference between a Swiss Made and a 'normal' watch?

The big difference between a Swiss Made watch and a 'normal' watch is the price. The steel of a Swiss watch is very durable and has a high resistance. It doesn't rust like that. The quality of a Swiss Made watch is therefore much higher than a timepiece from a country such as China or Japan. This means that a Swiss timepiece is often slightly more expensive than a 'normal' watch. Yet the price of a Swiss Made watch is often very reasonable. For example, at The Clone World, you will find cheap Swiss watches from top brands such as Invicta and Fromanteel.

Why is Swiss Made watches so popular?

One reason why Swiss watch brands are so popular is because of their long history. In many countries, watches are no longer made with so much precision. Swiss Made watches are made by real craftsmen who master the art of watchmaking.
